Office for rent on Chausseestrasse, Berlin Mitte

The Chausseestraße 117 is an architecturally striking and historically interesting building ensemble in Berlin-Mitte. The listed former residential and commercial building of the AG für Automobilunternehmungen was built from 1913 to 1914, presumably based on a design by Arnold Kuthe. Particularly distinctive is the neoclassical street facade, with its clear pilaster arrangement and sculptural facade decoration giving the building a representative, almost monumental effect. The courtyard areas are also historically remarkable: Two enclosed courtyard complexes were built on the elongated property. According to the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the first Berlin high-rise garage was located in the second courtyard, giving the ensemble a special urban and transport-historical significance. The attic figures on the facade, including a figure holding an automobile, also refer to the original use and history of the site. Another historically interesting fact is that the courtyards of Chausseestraße 117 were later used as a production site by Konski & Krüger. From the 1930s onwards, especially during World War II, the famous Enigma cipher machine was manufactured there. Today, our location is in the backyard of Chausseestraße 117 and spans six floors. This location combines the special historical substance of the ensemble with a spatial structure that unfolds inside the building complex.
