Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and boasts a total population of 1.5 million residents. Actually, the island is often called a small continent due to its various landscapes with numerous streams, mountains, hills, etc. As a result of this variety, many locations are not inhabited and some have such a low population density that are only reachable by car. In terms of economy, Sardinia holds a good position in comparison to other Italian regions south to Rome. Yet, the situation is still not that bright as the autonomous region manages to produce a GDP that reaches more than 70% of the European average. To improve the situation local authorities are continuously trying to boost the local business scene and support small businesses. So far, the local economy stands on the shoulders of agriculture, tourism and public service sector. In recent years, Sardinia has also attracted a number of R&D projects. In terms of industry, Sardinia has always benefited from its natural resources like coal, silver, iron and zinc, granite. The commercial property market in Sardinia is somewhat outdated with the majority of offices situated in the region’s capital - Cagliari.
