After the collapse of the textile industry, the economy of Enschede took its turn to the development of the service sector. Nowadays, the city is one of the most innovative business hubs of the Overijssel province. Student life is flourishing there. Young people attend courses in IT, engineering, chemistry, and other fields in the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Young initiatives are also active in making the local economy more diverse and stable. Thus, they are often looking for the appropriate workspace to develop their projects. Coworking spaces in Enschede allow them to grow and collaborate, form like-minded communities and enlarge the business structure of the city. Although, the region is not as large startup hub as, e.g., Amsterdam or Rotterdam, it still boasts 50-60 new projects each year. The coworking culture gains momentum in Enschede. Shared offices become popular not only among the locals but also among the digital nomads, who often come there from other countries(mainly from Germany) for short weekend vacations.
