Quintus Bastion is protected and covered by the museum law, which means that only existing buildings can be used for commercial and residential purposes. To the south of the Bastion is the protected rampart area, which is also of conservation value, and to the north lies Refshaleøen.

Quintus Bastion can be accessed by car via Christianshavn or Kløvermarken. Christianshavn and Holmen are solidly connected by bike/pedestrian bridges, allowing Kongens Nytorv to be reached in just 10 minutes by bike.
