Area
Quintus Bastion is part of Copenhagen's fortifications dating back to the 17th century. Along with Nyholm, Quintus Bastion is the northernmost part of Holmen's fortifications. Surrounded by water and houseboats, Quintus Bastion offers a cozy maritime atmosphere in a class of its own.
Quintus Bastion is protected and covered by the museum law, which means that only existing buildings can be used for commercial and residential purposes. To the south of the Bastion is the protected rampart area, which is also of conservation value, and to the north lies Refshaleøen.
Quintus Bastion can be accessed by car via Christianshavn or Kløvermarken. Christianshavn and Holmen are solidly connected by bike/pedestrian bridges, allowing Kongens Nytorv to be reached in just 10 minutes by bike. Furthermore, the City of Copenhagen has decided to add a new bike/pedestrian bridge between Refshaleøen and Toldboden, which is currently being planned. Within walking and biking distance, there are also Christianshavn Metro station, the harbor bus, and bus line 2A.

Quintus Bastion got its name because it is the fifth bastion built in the eastern fortification. The word "quintus" means "the fifth" in Latin. Danish fortifications were traditionally named after both their location and order.
The building and the rest of the Bastion underwent a thorough renovation in 2017-2019. Nearby commercial neighbors include Vandkunsten Architects, Designwerck, Industristål, and Georg Stage.
