With roots going as far back as 400-500 BC, Naestved, Denmark, indeed has much to boast of. It is a place rich in history and culture, hosting numerous exhibitions of all kinds throughout the year. The town has several museums of national importance; local churches are vivid examples of architectural masterpieces, theatres and concert halls add to the town’s position as a cultural stronghold on Zealand, outside Copenhagen. Cultural and historical landmarks do attract many tourists, who simultaneously become customers in the local retail outlets. Shops in Naestved form a vast network of places that sell everything from electronics to babywear. The centre of the town has a relatively large pedestrian area for a spot of its size. Twice a week, one of the oldest squares in the town - Axeltorv hosts a market. Today, Naestved is known for its two significant shopping centres - Stor Center and Mega Centre, each of them comprising dozens of outlets, as well as dining and entertainment areas. These stores in Naestved are situated side by side and are easily accessible by trains and buses. Public transport stations are in about 5 minutes walk from the entrances of these malls. The town has always been a centre of trade and commerce. In the late 1270s, it also held the status of the royal market town. The tradition to sell goods in squares still preserves in the area, making it a favourable shopping destination on a Zealand island.
