Rakennus on arkkitehti K.A. Wreden suunnittelema ja valmistui vuonna 1888. Perusparannustyöt on toteutettu rakennuksen arkkitehtuuria ja historiaa kunnioittaen, ja tiloissa on koneellinen ilmanvaihto sekä jäähdytys.

Esplanadin puisto, Aleksanterinkatu ja Helsingin keskustan palvelut ovat välittömässä läheisyydessä. Naapurikiinteistön Gaselli-korttelin sisäpihalle valmistui vuonna 2025 lasikatteinen kaupunkipuutarha ravintoloineen, jotka palvelevat myös korttelin vuokralaisia.
