Around 30 thousand sq.m. of office units were removed from the entire market, due to the issue of demolition or restructuring. Nowadays approximately 500 thousand sq.m. of offices are available for rent in Rotterdam. It accounts for 15% vacancy rate. The rental prices for offices in Rotterdam depend upon the location they occupy there. The most expensive venues are found in the central part of the city; they cost around EUR120-225 per sq.m. per year. Rotterdam Brain and Alexander parks offer suites for approximately EUR130-170, accordingly. The lowest rental costs for venues are in the outskirts of the city(EUR90-130).

Being the major centre of the maritime industry in the Netherlands and occupying a strategic geographical position, Rotterdam is often called “A Gateway to Europe”. The local economy is mainly service-based and boasts such spheres as energy solutions, pharmaceutics, chemical industry, trading, electronics, IT, etc. Erasmus University graduates form a large talent pool often interested in starting their careers in the native land.
