TRÆ is a new office building in Sydhavnen, Aarhus. It will be Denmark's tallest wooden building, standing at 78 meters and 20 floors. There is space for companies that want to be a part of an office building where we have considered the materials we use, the way we construct, and how we interact with each other.
TRÆ is being built with wood, concrete, and glass, but we are working on reusing many of the materials, such as discarded wind turbine blades, which undergo a series of fire tests before being used on the facade. Additionally, we reuse facade panels, bricks, wood, double-glazed windows, and other materials that have been used before. We aim to extend the lifespan of the materials, both the reused ones and the new ones, by using them in the appropriate functions and where it makes the most sense.
This means that we find, test, and select materials along the way, so we cannot tell you exactly how the facade will look, how the floors will be in the future offices, or what material will be used for the acoustic ceilings.
It is a new way of thinking and a different way of building, but we have a shared responsibility and an ambition to push the boundaries of how we construct today. Now we are trying with TRÆ.
The project is developed by PFA Pension and Kilden & Hindby in collaboration with MOE and Lendager Architects. The project is also supported by Aarhus Municipality's climate fund.
TRÆ is a multi-tenant building where as a tenant, you have access to the building's shared facilities, such as a common cafeteria, meeting rooms, a lounge, changing rooms, and the shared rooftop terraces.
