With the June opening of WeWork Urban Escape in the very heart of Stockholm, the large market-dominating, American coworking provider has taken its first determined step to establish in the Nordic office rental market as well.

The next Scandinavian locations are already under construction: WeWork Copenhagen, which will open next year in Skelbækgade in city district Vesterbro, and WeWork Oslo, which plan to open on a similar central address in the Norwegian capital.

"I look forward to welcoming Scandinavian entrepreneurs and companies in our global network. Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo are perfect locations to join for start-ups and innovative companies," WeWork Northern Europe Manager, Wybo Wijnbergen states.

"With our coworking environments in Scandinavia, we feel very eager to connect Nordic companies with upcoming business contacts all over the world and thus making it easier to do business of all type and size."

WeWork Stockholm

WeWork's first Scandinavian coworking location has arranged the 13,500 newly opened square meters in Stockholm's fashioned central city district Urban Escape located between Sergels Torg and Kungsträdgården counting five buildings, four streets, two squares and a shopping centre.

Even before the opening in early June, WeWork Stockholm could declare itself almost entirely let by approx. two hundred companies ranging from tiny entrepreneurs to large companies with up to 100 employees.

In June, WeWork launched its first Nordic coworking spaces in one of Stockholm's
most fashionable and popular office properties, Urban Escape, centrally located in
the vibrant heart of the capital of Sweden.

"We are most proud of the positive response to our new WeWork Stockholm location. We offer a platform on which companies of all sizes can interact in WeWork's global network with now almost 470,000 members," newly appointed WeWork Nordic Area Manager, Tom Wadegård says.

A work station in one of Stockholm's most fashionable and popular office properties, where also Spotify has headquarters, costs from 515 euro a month - office space for five employees from 4.300 euro per month.

WeWork Copenhagen

During the launch of WeWork Urban Escape, the world's largest coworking provider revealed that WeWork's first Danish location would open in the summer of 2020 in Skelbækgade 2-4 in the trendy Copenhagen city district Vesterbro.

Over the last two decades, the neighbourhood has blossomed into a flashy business district for entrepreneurs, young tech and other innovative companies - a segment that WeWork Copenhagen also will reach out for and adapt.

In mid-2020, WeWork is preparing to open its first Copenhagen coworking location
in the innovative tech business district of Vesterbro.

"The Vesterbro district corresponds to WeWork's strict demands for central city locations. I do not doubt that our future location in Skelbækgade will be able to support and develop the creative and innovative spirits of this charming area," Wybo Wijnbergen underlines.

WeWork Copenhagen will create 7,500 sqm, which will be developed and designed in collaboration with the Danish architectural firm Over Byen Arkitekter. The area already houses the sought-after coworking spaces of SOHO and NOHO.

More CPH locations

Wybo Wijnbergen estimates that Copenhagen currently has the potential for several WeWork flexible office spaces. Actually, the US coworking giant is already looking for new suitable properties to rent on the right locations.

Right now, London is offering 40 WeWork locations, Paris 15, and Berlin has just opened its 12th location. Other European capitals like Madrid have six, Amsterdam and Brussels four, while Rome and Moscow each offer three WeWork coworking environments.

Since 2010, WeWork has developed an empire of 575 coworking environments in
100 cities in 35 countries. In 2020 Denmark will join the most impressive portfolio.

Since the early start on the Manhattan corner of Grand and Lafayette Streets back in 2010, WeWork at this moment did launch not less than 575 coworking environments in 100 cities across 35 countries.

Last year, WeWork more than doubled its turnover - from $886 million in 2017 to $1.82 billion. During the same period, the coworking provider's losses increased from $933 million to $1.9 billion. Currently, WeWork's total value is being estimated at $20 billion.
