American reports predict a massive return in 2026 of remote office workers to corporate city offices that have been otherwise depopulated for several years.
And real estate agents are already optimistic about a market revival in the rental of the many vacant office towers that have emerged as ghostly backdrops since the pandemic.
"Thousands of employees will have to return to their physical office spaces, and many companies will have to find new, modern leases that can accommodate the returning employees' new, demanding requirements for space and interior design.
At the same time, employers can appropriately seize the opportunity to give their corporate culture a service overhaul and prioritise improved flexibility and work-life balance in newly designed spaces," expectant industry professionals suggest.

According to CBRE, the world's largest commercial real estate agency, its recent Nordic Office Occupier Sentiment Survey 2025 reveals that easy accessibility remains the top priority for Nordic office workers considering returning to the workplace.
"Convenient commuting promotes greater attendance, as an office location is more attractive when commuting options are within reach. This has been the case since the return-to-office concept was first mentioned as a priority in 2023," the CBRE report states.
