In 2026, you might probably spend more working hours in the company's physical office spaces - but in return, you will experience a better, more comfortable, and more welcoming working environment than ever before.

This is the experts' main headline for your office work and office life in the coming year. You can expect more flexible furnishings and layouts, integrated technology for seamless collaboration, biophilic design, and facilities that optimize well-being.

Employer focus will shift even further from fixed desks to flexible spaces that support both focused work and community, where AI-powered analytics will help optimize employees’ daily use.

Workspitality, that is, the link between work and hospitality, which attracts employees with ‘hotel-like’ amenities and experiences that transform the office into an attractive place to be, sounds like an exciting mantra for your office day in 2026.

Well-being in focus

"Workplace well-being is still a relatively new concept, after sustainability has been the main topic for many years," chief strategist at London-based interior design firm Advanced Interior Solutions, Leeson Medhurst, says.

"However, the balance has been tipping in recent years, with employee well-being and the way office design affects productivity and engagement moving to the top of the agenda.

In fact, it's now become quite difficult to find a company or organization that hasn't appointed a manager or team to focus on and manage workplace well-being."

Green andnatural office environments that aim to improve health, well-being, and
productivity among employees are examples of workspitality, which will become
the guiding principle for your office day and office life in 2026.

Leeson Medhurst points out that office workers, accustomed to the comfort and control of working from home, need workspaces that not only increase their productivity but also reduce stress the moment they step into the office.

The solution is to create comfortable environments that let each employee start the day as their best selves. The design of the office becomes part of the well-being equation the moment you open the door to your workplace."

The workspitality palette

The workspitality palette comprises core elements: service-rich offerings (cafes, wellness programs), an emphasis on user experience (comfort, aesthetics, personalization), and adaptable design (tailored to varied modern workflows).

In addition, hotel-like features such as comfortable lounge areas, high-quality coffee stations, and stylish furniture make the space feel luxurious and restful. They also help create a sense of community and well-being in a place that supports getting work done and helps people feel appreciated and connected.

If office workers in 2026 are to experience their compan space as meaningful and
worth sacrificing travel time for, it must offer them something more than the home
office: Presence, energy, attractive surroundings, and a culture to be part of.

"If office workers in 2026 are to experience their company's physical space as meaningful and worth spending time commuting to, it must offer them something more than their home office: presence, energy, attractive settings for both collaboration and immersion, and a culture they want to be a part of.

The most crucial factor for a productive environment is variety and choice - there is no one-size-fits-all solution," design experts agree.

"Different types of space suit different types of work activities and behaviors. The very best workspace layouts should meet every need, whether it's for collaboration, deep focus, privacy, or informal interactions."

Human skills

"As more and more companies hand over tasks and processes to AI and automation, our human skills to handle tasks that cannot be easily handled by machines will become more valuable than ever.

In 2026 and beyond, employers will increasingly emphasize skills where people are still indisputably superior, such as interpersonal communication, empathy, creativity, teamwork, and leadership," the world-renowned futurist, influencer, and award-winning author of over 20 books, Bernard Marr, predicts.

"In 2026 and beyond, employers will increasingly emphasize skills where people
still excel - such as interpersonal communication, empathy, creativity, teamwork,
and
leadership," the American futurist Bernard Marr predicts.

"We see this shift in changing hiring priorities with a growing emphasis on 'soft', non-technical human skills and on developing skill pathways that strengthen human problem-solving and long-term strategic thinking.

At the same time, areas such as nursing, construction, education, and technology are showing significant growth. Young people about to start their professional lives, but also older workers looking to change direction, will need to take these changing circumstances into account when making career decisions in 2026," Bernard Marr urges.  ●
