Rotterdam is a city in the south of Holland with the population of over 600,000 people. Rotterdam Innovation District is the home to forward-thinking companies and business incubators. Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM) - the former shipyard, and the Merwe-Vierhavens area are the places where many exciting initiatives are born and implemented, and many interesting business and culture events are organized. RDM provides ultra-modern office facilities to start-ups, small SMEs, and larger companies, mainly from maritime and offshore industries (Franklin Offshore, Urban Green), etc. Entrepreneurs here can cooperate with such educational institutions as Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and the Delft University of Technology. Merwe-Vierhavens (M4H) provides workspace to cleantech, medical, and food business clusters as well as Erasmus Center of Entrepreneurship.

Interestingly, there are more architectural bureaus in Rotterdam than anywhere else in the country. It is also the only city in the Netherlands with a distinct skyline due to its skyscrapers.
