The Lust Pavilion: Reconstruction of a historic building at Holmen
In 2026, the Lystøndeskuret will return to its original surroundings at Kuglegården. The construction company Mogens de Linde is behind the reconstruction of this remarkable wooden house, which for 80 years was used for storing light buoys that emitted light signals in the harbor using burning coal - the navigational aids of the past. The house will be rebuilt using its original materials, with the possibility of a café/restaurant with outdoor seating, showroom, or office space. With its fantastic location facing Trangrav Canal, it will be a gathering place for life and culture.
The History:
The Lystøndeskuret originally belonged to Kuglegården and was one of the many distinctive buildings that have disappeared from Holmen in recent times. Built in 1920 by the Defense for the Lighthouse Service, it was used for storing, preparing, repairing, and maintaining large buoys and light buoys for 80 years. In 1999, the Lighthouse Service requested the Defense Building Service to demolish the wooden house, which was no longer in use and was deteriorating. The building was dismantled, packed, and gifted to Ebeltoft Municipality in 2001, where it was stored for several years. The project was never realized, and in 2017, the building parts were gifted to the construction company Mogens de Linde, who will now rebuild the Lystøndeskuret in its original environment at Kuglegården.
The Area:
Kuglegården is located at the beginning of Holmen, surrounded by charming canals. It is a short distance to Kongens Nytorv via Inderhavnsbroen and to Christianshavns metro station along the canal. Holmen is a popular oasis for creative businesses with its many preserved defense buildings and green areas.
The Property:
The Lystøndeskuret will be constructed in accordance with the maritime building practices of the past, using its original materials. The exterior will feature black facade boards with white window frames. The roof will be made of slate or roofing felt. The building will have new windows facing Trangravpladsen, allowing for easy circulation in and out of the building. The property will also have an outdoor seating area on the northern side facing Trangravsvej.
The Lease:
The Lystøndeskuret will be available for lease to companies looking for a unique location in the heart of Copenhagen. It is suitable for a café, restaurant, event space, office, showroom, and will contribute to the urban life at the new square at the end of the marina. The lease will consist of approximately 927 m² spread over 3 floors, with the possibility for the new tenant to have influence on the final layout. Expected takeover in 2026.
